Dillon SUP Fundamentals Camp and Meeting Chase Kosterliz

Dear friends,

Another week came and went, and in two weeks once again I will be setting up shop in Minturn with the family for the season. They say that Maui is a magical place where prayers are answered and if you are open, paths are shown. When we launched our SUPCO Tribe paddling club last week I was convinced that we would be following a plan set out by acclaimed SUP Coach and pro paddler Chase Kosterlitz. Sure enough, I paddle out to Lanes and there are pros from Fanatic and JP Australia shredding the new line of pro model surf SUPs. There was a little wind and chop and sets were coming in that were easily several feet overhead. Drones were flying all around us, and I was able to make out a handful of them. The guys that I recognized were Chase Kosterlitz, Airton Cozzolino, Keahi de Aboitz and Vinnicius Martins.

While in the line up I was able to get close enough to Chase to have a conversation and share what we are up to in Colorado. He brought up that he’d done some river stuff in Oregon and wasn’t a stranger to SUPing in the rivers. I congratulated him on the launching of https://paddlesociety.com/, his new project that builds community through coaching, racing, and training for SUP and outrigger canoe. I also talked with him about the SUPCO Tribe and some of the other camps we are going to be releasing soon. People who have spent time on Maui are well aware of these little miracles that happen. One week I run into Kai Lenny, and the next one I run into the guy who created the training schedule that I want to implement.

I think that after meeting Chase, it’s only fitting we would extend our pre-teen and teenage camps on Dillon Reservoir this summer! We have the Dillon SUP Fundamentals Camp and the Dillon Advanced SUP Race Camp. The fundamentals is a pre requisite to the advanced. We want to make sure that they have a solid foundation before we begin really drilling and training with them.  There is detailed info on both options behind HERE and HERE. The way they’re scheduled, they kind of lead up into each other. You can also apply the early bird discount to it, if you act soon!

Soon I will be in Hana saying goodbye to the Valley Isle on our last little road trip of the season. Maybe I will run into someone pretty rad there as well.

Warmest regards and see you soon on the water,
